Class Descriptions + Developmental Arc

Beginner Kid’s Class [Ages 5-12]

  • These wrestlers main focus is to enjoy their introduction to wrestling and begin to associate both wrestling and learning with enjoyment. 

  • They will focus on movement, spacial awareness, and physical literacy. 

  • They will be introduced to basic wrestling concepts and skills. 


Kid’s Class [Ages 6-12]

  • The main focus of this class will be to instill proper fundamentals in every position. 

  • These wrestlers will be introduced to the concept of drilling and the importance of approaching it as a two-person activity. 

  • Where and when appropriate, they will be introduced to live wrestling under controlled conditions. 

Intermediate / High School [Ages 13 - HS]

  • This class is for Intermediate and High School wrestlers with wrestling experience who want to further their wrestling skills.

  • This class will reinforce and cement the foundational skills of wrestling and will begin to expose these athletes to the nuances of the sport. 

  • These athletes will be introduced to both sparring and play wrestling. 

  • These wrestlers will mainly compete at the local level. 


Advanced HS [Ages 13 - HS]

  • The students in this class have a strong grasp of the sport, have already placed at the State Tournament, or are traveling to regional/ national level events. 

  • This class will introduce and explore advanced concepts and techniques to enable the development of wrestlers’ personal style and repertoire. 

  • These wrestlers will be exposed to—and encouraged to extrapolate upon—current technical trends in wrestling. 

  • They will target, prepare for, and compete at higher levels of National and age-group competitions. 

       — Future Classes —

Elite [HS & Older]

  • The wrestlers in this class will receive more personalized instruction where information flows in both directions of the coach-wrestler relationship. 

  • These wrestlers are encouraged to explore and experiment with advanced and nuanced concepts and skills. 

  • They compete two to three times per year at national, USAW, and age-group qualifying tournaments. 

University [College-aged & College-Bound]

  • College-bound wrestlers get exposed to the pace and physicality they can expect from university-level wrestling.   

  • This group covers technique and concepts as needed.
